Crowborough’s Horticultural Show is held to coincide the Crowborough Town Fair each year.
2016 is a special year for Crowborough’s Horticultural Society- founded in 1941 the organisation are celebrating their 75th Anniversary this year.
Despite the number entries being down on last year due to the unusually wet summer, Gill Taplin, the Show Secretary, said it was “extremely pleasing to see so many new faces trying out their skills together with so many children entering the adult classes and winning prizes.”
The Horticultural Society’s new competition for families was well supported and was won by the Kaszuba family and Ashdown School won the School’s Shield.
Most points in flower arranging classes was won by Lynn Wickson and the star performer in the flower section was Gill Prince.
The under-10 years winner was Stefan Kaszuba with Jessica Long the over-11 winner.
Pictured is Ros Marriot being presented with the overall Winners Shield by the Society’s President Mike Eldred. As a prize she took home the standard roses supplied by sponsor Royal Mires Nursery in Lye Green.
A full list of winners will appear on the Society’s website in due course. For more information about the annual show and their monthly meetings see: www.crowboroughhorticulturalsociety.org.uk. Their next talk on Tuesday 26th July is from Jean Griffin, Britain in Bloom judge and BBC Sussex’s gardening expert.
