Microchipping at The Pet Food Shop in Crowborough

On Saturday 19th March, The Pet Food Shop on Croft Road in Crowborough will be offering you the opportunity to have your dog microchipped for just £15.

The Pet Food Shop Croft Road in CrowboroughFrom 6th April 2016 it will be compulsory for all dogs over 8-weeks old to be microchipped.  The new legislation has been introduced by the Government to reduce the number of strays and also to make it easier to re-unite lost pets with their owners.

Sally Wallace who volunteers for Many Tears Rescue, who has a training certificate, will be carrying-out the implants, and AVID MicroChips, a leading supplier of pet microchip products, are supplying the microchips at a special low price.  The cost includes initial registration to the PETtrac database.

A microchip is approximately the size of a grain of rice and is inserted under the skin on the scuff of the neck in a similar fashion to a vaccination injection.  All lost animals that are bought into vets, police and animal rescue centres are routinely scanned for a microchip.

If your dog is not chipped or your contact details are not kept up-to-date you face a fine of up to £500.   So if you move or your details change make sure you update them within 21 days.
