Just before 9am this morning (Monday 8th), a Suzuki jeep and a van collided on the A26 near the army camp south of Crowborough.

The 66-year old man driving the Suzuki heading north was freed by firefighters from Crowborough and taken by air ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious injuries.  He is currently in a stable condition.

The man driving the van southbound on the A26 was slightly injured.

It wasn’t until 4 hours later the A26 was re-opened.

Police are appealing for witnesses to call them on 101, or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk, quoting Operation Merton.
