Man arrested on suspicion of drink driving following collision near Nutley

Police are appealing for information following a serious collision involving two vehicles on Tuesday morning (14th June).

Fire crews from Uckfield and Crowborough were sent to the incident along the A22 north of Nutley at 10.27am.

One of the drivers, a 64-year-old woman from Horney Common, had to be cut free from the wreckage of her blue BMW.  Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the roof and side of a car before the driver could be released.  The casualty was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The other driver, a 39-year-old man from Croydon, was not injured.  He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and bailed until 18th June.

The road remained closed for several hours.

PC Andy Smith said:

We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened.

Witnesses can email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting Operation Longtown.
