Three World Champion Kickboxers

At the end of last month, members of Assassins Gym in Crowborough travelled to Italy as part of ICO England’s Kickboxing team to compete at the Unified World Championships.

The competition brought together major martial arts governing bodies and associations from around the World, with around 50 countries submitting teams.

In total Assassins Gym bought back 12 medals in the Kickboxing and K-1 full contact sections.  K-1 is a combat sport that combines techniques from Muay Thai, Karate, Taekwondo, Savate, San shou, Kickboxing and traditional Boxing.

  • Alex Hook (2 Golds & 1 Silver) – World Champion in K-1 & Kickboxingassassins-gym
  • Jack Binns (3 Golds, 1 Silver & 1 Bronse) – World Champion in K-1 & Kickboxing
  • Tommy West Jnr (2 Golds) – World Champion in K-1 & Kickboxing
  • Tom West – Silver and Bronze medals in Kickboxing

Lewis Pears, fight coach at Assassins Gym said:

They fought through very large sections to reach finals against strong opposition.  With long 14 hour days it was both both physically and mentally tough.

I’m so proud of what theses guys have achieved in just three years and it’s still such early day.

I would of settled for just bringing home one bronze medal!

All of them are looking to turn professional when the time is right.  They have bright futures ahead of them.
