They are asking residents to spare an hour or two between 9am and 3pm to paint the wood, plant flowerbeds, litter-pick and give the area a general tidy-up.

Jarvis Brook Rec was revitalised in 2012 at a cost of £160,000 with new play equipment and an all-weather area for ball games.   The skatepark and youth shelter are also very popular with teenagers.  But after four years the park is looking a little tired and needs refreshing.

Tesco are donating the wood stain and varnish, as well as providing free buffet lunch and refreshments for volunteers.  Amy Murphy, Community Champion at Tesco Crowborough said:

The reason Tesco got involved was we feel it is important for the local children to have a nice place to play in, somewhere mums can sit while their children play in nice surroundings.

The Community Fun Day, which was going to be on the 2nd July, was cancelled in April.  The event was to raise funds towards the converting JB’s into a Community Centre, but at the AGM, the Committee decided because of lack of support it was decided to scrap the project.  Only one member of the public turned-up to the meeting on 20th April and all applications to funding bodies for grants had been turned-down.

For more information about the Makeover Day – see the notice boards in the Rec or the one behind the tills in Tesco.  You can also keep up-to-date by ‘Liking’ the Community Association’s Facebook page.
