The History of Sissinghurst Castle Gardens

Saturday 5th August – 2pm

Garden Historian Stephen Harmer will talk about the history of Sissinghurst and how the lives of Vita Sackville West and Harold Nicolson shaped the garden we know today.  He will look at how the design was influenced by other gardens such as Hidcote Manor and some influential people such as William Robinson. You will see the garden in a different light!

Stephen has a Masters Degree in garden history lecturing at Hadlow College and teaching garden students for the University of Greenwich at Hadlow College.  Stephen has also taught garden history for the RHS at Wisley and leads tours to historic gardens all over Europe and talks for clubs, societies and U3A groups all over England.
