Two crunch meetings are looming for the future of Wealden’s former offices in Pine Grove.
Tonight the Town Council will decide whether it thinks the proposal for a Enterprise Hub in Crowborough is viable, and whether they should borrow money to buy the building from Wealden District Council. At an extra-ordinary meeting the Councillors will consider many inter-related issues:
- the business case for buying Pine Grove
- how much money might be needed to buy the lease and convert the building
- how much money the council would need to borrow
- how much Council Tax to charge in 2015/16
- how much it will cost to hold a parish poll or referendum
- when the poll can be held and what format it will take, and
- what question to ask electors.
The Town Council makes its decision at the meeting on Thursday 5th February at 7.30pm in the Town Hall in the Broadway – the meeting is open to the public.
The next crunch meeting is a week later. Then Wealden Councillors on the Planning Committee (North) will decide whether to grant planning permission for the Enterprise Hub.
The Officer has recommended the application be approved. You can download the Committee Report here (Adobe pdf file): WD/2014/2422/F.
The meeting is in Hailsham and the Crowborough Community Association are encouraging people to attend to show support. They are arranging a bus to take people from Crowborough to the meeting at a cost per person of £5.50. Tickets are available from the Community Centre.
The CCA have requested a meeting with Cllr Bob Standley, the leader of Wealden District Council immediately after the planning application has been decided, so that he can hear first hand views of people in Crowborough.
The Planning Committee starts at 10am on Thursday 12th February at the Civic Community Hall in Hailsham.
