Jobcentre Plus will be providing career and benefits information in Crowborough from next month.
Following a successful pilot elsewhere in Wealden, Jobcentre Plus are extending their outreach programme. Drop-in surgeries will now be held at Crowborough Library on the last Friday in the month, starting on Friday 28th November.
This will give Wealden residents aged 16 and over the opportunity to discuss work and training opportunities, get advice about application forms, clarify the rules and conditions for claiming Jobseekers’ Allowance and find information on Jobcentre initiatives much closer to their homes.
Until now local people have had to travel to Tunbridge Wells or Haywards Heath to see someone in person at a Jobcentre Plus office.
Councillor Roy Galley, Cabinet Member for Economic Development & Regeneration said:
I am delighted that Jobcentre Plus has been able to extend this scheme. The trial has proved popular and it’s very important that even more Wealden jobseekers will be able to get expert help and advice without facing the cost of travel. This is part of Wealden’s ongoing commitment to helping our residents who are looking for work.
Wealden District Council will be running a Careers Fair for 14-25 year olds in Uckfield Civic Centre on 19th November.
From November 3, Jobcentre Plus will be running the following surgeries across Wealden district:
- Every Monday – Hailsham, Wealden District Council Offices, Vicarage Lane, 9:30am to 4:30pm
- Every Wednesday – Eastbourne Library, 2-4:30pm
- Last Thursday of the month – Uckfield Volunteer Centre, 1pm-4pm
- First Friday of the month – Heathfield Library 10:30am-1pm
- Last Friday of the month – Crowborough Library, 9:30am-1pm
