Crowborough Youth Council met with Nus Ghani MP at their Clued-up.info shop base on The Broadway on Thursday 7th March.
In this “fact finding” visit, the Youth Council outlined their role promoting the views of local young people. They also took the opportunity to raise concerns about things they have been hearing regarding cuts in school budgets.
The Youth Council are local young people aged 11-25 who are interested in supporting our community to make Crowborough, including Rotherfield, a better place for young people. The objectives also include bringing together different ages/generations for mutual gain and getting more funded/subsidised events and activities for young people.
After her visit, Nus Ghani MP said:
Young people today can be overawed by the challenges of the 21st century, whether they be education, finding a job, family relationships, money and physical or mental health issues. Having somewhere they can go that can help them with any of those difficulties is a huge benefit, so I was pleased to visit clued-up and see what it’s all about. The staff and trustees were committed and knowledgeable, and it was clear how grateful the young people there were for the support and advice they were able to get. Thank you to everyone I met for welcoming me so warmly.
Any young person can get involved in the Youth Council. They meet on Thursdays from 3.30-4.30pm and are always actively recruiting new members. The Youth Council have been approached for their opinions by the Town Council and Jarvis Brook Community Association in the past.
See their website www.clued-up.info for details of services and opening times.
