It is will sadness we report that Councillor Quin, who has represented Crowborough on Wealden District Council for 15 years, has died.
Councillor Major Antony Quin RM was elected to Wealden District
Council in May 1999 as member for Crowborough West and continued as councillor until his death.
He served on a number of committees during his time including the Planning Committees which represented the north of the District, the Internal and Audit Scrutiny Committee and the Environmental Scrutiny Committee. He was the Chairman of the Regulatory and Audit Committee for a number of years.
Councillor Quin was also the Council’s representative for Wealden Citizens’ Advice and for the Crowborough Community Association.
Paying tribute, Wealden District Council’s Chairman, Councillor Brian Redman, said:
Councillor Quin was always very supportive of his fellow Councillors and those who turned to him for assistance in the community. Courteous at all time, he put a lot thought and time into his work for the people of Crowborough and was always ready to speak up when needed.
Through his work on the Council and for the Citizens Advice, he has helped a great many people. His 15 years as a Wealden Councillor is part of a fitting example of a life in public service.
It is understood Councillor Quin had been unwell for some time.
Major Antony Quin RM supported Crowborough CAB and Wealden Citizens Advice for many years as both a Trustee and then WDC Representative on the Board of Trustees.
Caroline Mack, Chief Executive of Wealden Citizens Advice said:
Major Quin was extremely knowledgeable and brought a lot of expertise to the work of the board. Wealden Citizens Advice will miss him and in particular his humour greatly at their meetings, he is a real loss to the Service.
