Harris & Hoole has won Retailer of the Year in the annual Chamber Business Awards.  The coffee shop, which closed down at the weekend, was recognised by members of the Crowborough & District Chamber of Commerce particularly for the events they organised for children.

The Chamber said the majority of the voting took place before the announcement was made that Harris & Hoole was to shut, and their win was deserved and not a “sympathy reaction”.

The winners of the Business Awards were announced at the Annual Chamber Review held at the Crowborough Community Centre on Thursday 18th September.

Steve Edwards of T& T DIY and tool hire on Farningham Road, won Business Person of the Year for his support for the community and contribution to the fun day.  In the other categories, Kemp Accountants won the Non-Retailer of the Year, Zest – Outstanding Customer Service of the Year and Guest’s Shoe Services was presented with the President’s Award by Jeremy Woolger.

Non Retailer of the Year – Kemp Accountants: “For great service and a helpful and accommodating attitude.  Paul and Sue make the task of submitting accounts less daunting.”

Outstanding Customer Service of the Year – Zest : “They go the extra mile to find just what suits, exceptional in the way they present their products and very helpful.”

Business Person of the Year – Steve Edwards, T&T DIY:  “Steve is consistently supportive of the community through his contribution to the fun day with transportation & time.”

Retailer of the Year – Harris & Hoole: “A positive presence on the High Street, always looking to add to their service with kids functions etc.”
