From 1st April, the café will be run as a joint venture between the Crowborough Community Association and Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA) who have experience of running similar outlets in the county.
Sussex Community Development Association are currently looking for a chef and two kitchen assistants (see the jobs section).
SCDA will cater for private evening and day events while continuing to provide high quality food at reasonable prices. To ensure quality and affordability, the new café will offer two daily lunchtime specials in addition to soup of the day, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, paninis, cake, coffee and tea.
Regrettably, in preparation for the change, the café will close for a month from the end of February while SCDA installs new equipment, appoints staff and trains them.
The current operators, the Newby family’s Cuisine Studio, are moving to Nizam Restaurant in East Grinstead. Everyone at the Crowborough Centre wishes them luck in their new venture and extends a big thank you to them for the hard work they put into the café.
The Community Centre is keen that users are as involved as possible in our vision for the café. To this end we are inviting those of you with interior design aspirations to enter a competition to provide a new look for the café area. The winner’s plan will be put forward for a special fund-raising effort to create a warm and welcoming café area. And for aspirational cooks, we are seeking your thoughts on weekly menus.
To find out how to get involved, please contact the Centre Manager, Lorna Dowson-Collins, in person at the Centre on 653823 or by email email@example.com.
