Thanks to Mandi Cooper for sending this article describing Beacon Swimming Club’s Gala and BBQ:
Beacon Swimming Club had a fantastic afternoon last Saturday, celebrating their 40th Anniversary. Over 80 of the club’s members took part in the fun gala, as well as a number of ex-swimmers and some parents, who showed everyone they too still love to swim!
A brilliant film was projected onto the pool hall wall for everyone to watch, it showed still photographs through the years that had been found in the archives. Many pictures were of past swimmers and coaches who had come along to the celebration.
A fantastic display of Synchronised Swimming by Hythe Syncro Club, started the Gala, inspiring many of the swimmers who were watching.
The Team’s had fantastic fun, competing against each other, in fun races, full team relays, Life Saving Relays, The Masters swam some events, and even a coach or 2 stepped up onto the blocks alongside them, much to their surprise!
Afterwards, the hungry hordes descended on the BBQ outside. A HUGE thank you to Beacon Academy pupils who were raising money for their trip to Gambia, for the cooking and serving of the food and drink, as well as to Matt Miller and Jarvis Brook Football Club, who provided support during the cooking and gave us all the equipment to cook with. We really appreciate all the hard that you put in, especially as it was raining!
Beacon would also like to thank Freedom Leisure Crowborough, the Staff went above and beyond expectation, with help leading to the event as well as during the Celebration afternoon. We really do appreciate your constant support.
