Students from Beacon Community College have recently being competing in the Rotary Club’s Youth Competitions.

Young_Photographer_bannerRotary International runs a number of annual competitions and awards aimed at celebrating the talents and achievements of young people, interested in diverse range of subjects including photography, writing and science & technology.

Year 10 student Oliver Cosby, won the District’s Young Musician Final and now goes forward to the regional competition in March.

Oliver’s programme comprised Prelude in C Minor by Chopin, Waltz in A Flat by Brahms, A Wise Bud by Rebello and Rondo by Dussek.  Oliver began playing the piano at the age of 6 and is currently studying for Grade 7.

And 13 year old Luke Holmes, also representing the Rotary Club of Crowborough, took part in District 1120’s Young Chef Competition.

Luke, came joint third in the competition, with his take on Indian cuisine.  Luke who was up against more experienced competitors, was encouraged by the judges to continue with his culinary activities.

The Rotary Club of Crowborough is part of District 1120, which is a large and very active Rotary District with 85 clubs in Kent, East Sussex and South East London.
