On Monday 5th October Southern will introduce changes to a small number of their services on their rural routes which can be vulnerable to poor rail conditions due to leaf fall.
The only amended service from Crowborough is the 0845 to London Bridge. The service will run three minutes earlier from Uckfield to Ashurst (whoops originally typed Ashford!). Passengers are warned to arrive a few minutes earlier from Monday to catch this train.
This year’s leaf timetable starts on Monday 5th October and will run until Friday 18th December.
For details of other services on the Southern network year’s leaf timetable starts on Monday 5 October and will run until Friday 18 December. Details can be downloaded here: 2015_Leaf_fall_timetable.
Platform Lengthening Work:
Passengers are also reminded that from Monday 2nd November to Friday 27th November 2015 the line will be closed between Hurst Green and Uckfield, Monday to Friday between 0920 and 1640, with changes to last trains Monday to Thursday. This is to enable the lengthening of the platforms at Crowborough in preparation for the introduction of longer trains next year.
The 0843 is the last London service before the line is closed at 0920 to allow Network Rail to access the site. It is understood rail passenger groups have asked Southern to see if more carriages could be added to this train to enable more space for passengers.
There will be rail replacement bus services to Oxted and Haywards Heath during the closure period. Alternatively passengers will be able to use tickets on Southeastern services to/from Tunbridge Wells. For more information see www.southernrailway.com.
